Sea travel in areas under Signal 1 canceled – Philippine Coast Guard

Sea travel in seven areas under Storm Signal No. 1 because of Typhoon Chedeng have been canceled, the Philippine Coast Guard's acting spokesperson Cmdr. William Arquero told dzBB radio Friday night.

Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Isabela, Aurora, Quirino, and Quezon including Polilio Island were under Signal 1, weather service PAGASA had said earlier.

Arquero added that each Coast Guard district in Chedeng-affected areas has its own rescue team.

The Coast Guard had earlier canceled sea travel in the ports of Virac, San Andres and Pandan in Catanduanes; and Pasacao, Sabang, Guijalo, Balatan Tamban, Nato, and Camaligan in Camarines Sur.

The PCG had also reported that 16 vessels and 27 motor bancas had taken shelter in Albay and Camarines Sur due to heavy seas caused by Chedeng.

Meanwhile, Quezon's Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council had also barred sea travel from the province, radio dzBB reported. Joel Locsin/DVM, GMA News
