Luis Enrique: La Liga far from over
The Blaugrana boss says he doesn't expect his side will need to win all ten of their remaining fixtures to secure the title and admitted they are still targeting a famous treble
Luis Enrique is expecting plenty of drama in the final few weeks of the Liga season and doubts even Barcelona can complete a clean sweep.
Barca sit four points clear of second-placed Real Madrid with 10 games remaining and head to the coach’s former club Celta Vigo on Sunday.
And the Catalans' boss believes his side will be unable to win all of their remaining games in order to wrestle the title back from reigning champions Atletico Madrid, who secured the championship at Camp Nou on the final day of last season.
"I think it’s highly unlikely that any of the four teams still in contention for the title will win all of their remaining games," he told reporters.
"Of course, I might be wrong, and if I am then I hope I’m wrong about Barca!"
Third-placed Atleti are just six points off the pace while Valencia remain eight points behind the leaders, with Real Madrid four points adrift after being defeated in the Clasico before the international break.
"All games are important," Luis Enrique added. "From now on, there won’t be any easy opponents. Celta will be dangerous because they need points and the championship is getting near to the end."
Barca meet Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey final on May 30 and face Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and Luis Enrique is not discounting the possibility of a famous treble in his first season as the club's head coach.
"The Champions League is an exclusive and unique tournament for the best teams in Europe. It’s a competition we can cope with and the Copa del Rey final is one of the most beautiful tournaments out there," he said.
"Will we win the treble? We’ll see."
