How to Make Joomla Search Engine Friendly

Do you have a Joomla powered website and you really want all your pages to be listed among the biggest search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. Having your domain indexed is not so difficult but having your ursl to look nice and pretty for the search engine to index your web pages seems a bit difficult sometimes when working with Joomla and some hosting company.

I ran into issues trying to make one of my Joomla site to have search engine friendly urls but I keep getting an error page each time a set it up. This error page kept coming so I had to leave the website with long and ugly looking urls till I discovered what the problem was.

Some hosting company like Godaddy provides Joomla installation true a wizard which makes it easier for anyone to install Joomla on there site. But some people do not know about that, like I didn’t at first. I installed Joomla the old fashioned way; by uploading the package folder on my remote server. By installing this way, I found out that when I set my website to have search engine friendly urls, the web applications on the site don’t run and when a menu is clicked, an error page shows up.

How do we solve this problem to have a better and prettier urls for the search engines? First; make sure to use the wizards provided by you hosting company because this fixes any error that may occur during Joomla installation. After installing and setting up Joomla, go to the global configuration panel. Go to SEO settings and set search engine friendly urls to yes then save changes.
