Poll: 32.2% of Real Madrid fans want Cristiano Ronaldo to be dropped

An astonishing poll by Spanish football newspaper As claims as many as 32.2% of Real Madrid supporters want to see Cristiano Ronaldo dropped from the first team.
Madrid’s season took a turn for the worse at the weekend when they suffered a shock defeat to Athletic Bilbao, allowing Barcelona to claim top spot in La Liga.
Worse still, Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick to draw level with Ronaldo on 30 Liga goals when it seemed previously that the Madrid star would cruise to the Pichichi award.
On December 13, Ronaldo had 12 more league goals than his great rival but he has scored only two goals in his past six Liga games, with Madrid only winning two of their past five.
As ran a poll of its readers asking what should be done to arrest this worrying turn of form, with no less than 92.1% of supporters wanting Ancelotti to abandon the famed ‘BBC’ of Benzema, Bale and Cristiano to line up in a 4-4-2 formation.

Bale was the first choice to be dropped – with 46.1% of the votes – but amazingly Ronaldo was next with 32.2% and Benzema third with 21.7%.
It just goes to show that even scoring more than a goal a game in your Madrid career isn’t enough to protect you from some of the most demanding supporters on the planet.
