While Flex 2 has a true curved body, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge brings unique edge display to the table.
So we let's check out which one is a better option.
Both the LG G Flex 2 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are way different from the ordinary smartphones (even the costliest ones). In terms of uniqueness, the S6 Edge has a slight edge of the G Flex 2, which has an exact replica in the form of its predecessor – the G Flex.
But still, the G Flex 2 is one of the curviest smartphones around. Such is its curves that while making/receiving a call, it fits our natural curved face and also due to the curved body, holding it is much easier. Like its predecessor, the new G Flex 2's back panel has the self-healing back panel which automatically heals minor scratches.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has unique dual edge display. That does not mean both its right and left edges are completely parts of the screen. Both the phones though are gorgeous and are the epitome of innovation expected today.
The LG G Flex 2 has a 5.5 inch curved plastic OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 403 ppi. This was quite surprising indeed as LG was one of the first companies to adopt Quad HD resolution (in LG G3).
Samsung though opted Quad HD resolution (1440 x 2560 pixels) for the Galaxy S6 Edge's 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display as expected, thus offering 577 ppi.
Practically though you might not tell the difference between a Quad HD and Full HD display, provided the screens are of same type. But here the G Flex 2 has an OLED display while the S6 Edge is using a Super AMOLED display. Despite that I still think that there would not be much of a difference. But you never know till you see it in real.
Now let's go beneath the skin of these beauties. The Samsung Galaxy S6 come packed with an Exynos 7420 chipset that comprises of an octa-core processor with highest clock speed of 2.1 GHz and 3 GB RAM. It comes in 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB internal storage version,
The LG G Flex 2 has the octa-core Snapdragon 810 processing unit (quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and 2.0 GHz Cortex-A57) which runs with either 2 or 3 GB of RAM, depending on whether you take the version with 16 or 32 GB of internal storage (respectively). An additional 128 GB can be added to the LG G Flex 2 via a microSD card.
Both the phones come with the latest Android Lollipop operating system, but ofcourse they have customised UI - TouchWiz in case of Samsung and Optimus in case of LG G Flex 2.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 offers a 2550 mAh battery, and the LG G Flex 2 has a 3000 mAh unit, but sadly neither of the two firms have given details as to how long their batteries will last, but both phones come with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0.
The LG G Flex 2 has a 13 megapixel primary camera with laser auto-focus, face detection, geo-tagging, panorama, HDR, optical image stabilisation, flash, and recording at 2160p at 30 fps, or 1080p at 60 fps. The front of the LG G Flex 2 has a 2.1 megapixel camera which can record videos at 1080p.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 has a 16 megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation, auto-focus, flash, geo-tagging, face detection, auto HDR, panorama, and video recording at 2160p at 30 fps, 1080p 60 fps, 720p 120 fps, and dual-video recording. The front of the Galaxy S6 has a 5 megapixel camera that can record videos at 1080p at 30 fps.
This one segment needs a real world comparison and thus you have to wait a bit.
For connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy S6 has a single nano SIM. The Galaxy S6 has 4G, WiFi, WiFi Direct, WiFi Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC, MHL 3.0 out, and an IR blaster.
The LG G Flex 2 has a single micro SIM slot. It has 4G, WiFi, WiFi Direct, WiFi Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC, DLNA, and an IR blaster.
The LG G Flex 2 misses out on MHL link, and loses this round by a whisker.
The main differentiator between these two phones are undoubtedly their design. Performance wise more or less, they would offer similar output. Only the camera output is need to be checked.
