Paris Saint-Germain midfielder
Blaise Matuidi has pledged his
support for under-fire coach
Laurent Blanc , insisting the
entire squad remain firmly
behind the former France
international.
PSG have claimed just one point from their last three Ligue
1 matches, leaving them seven points behind league-
leaders Marseille.
Pressure has been mounting on Blanc with rumours
gathering pace that the reigning French champions are
already considering possible replacements for next season,
but Matuidi insists the trainer has the full backing of the
playing staff.
"He is well respected and we always listen to him, even if
some people suggest the contrary," Matuidi told Telefoot .
"When things don't go the right way, you always go for
the coach, but we are all in the same boat and we're all to
blame when we suffer defeat. Just as well as we are we're
all winners in victory."
Rumours of unrest amongst the squad surfaced after Blanc
handed star duo Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi
three-match suspensions for returning late from the winter
break.
But this week Blanc insisted they both have a future at the
club and Matuidi revealed both regret their behaviour and
are eager to re-establish themselves in the team.
"Cavani and Lavezzi have a lot of regrets," the France
international continued.
"The coach put things in order. Of course we're not having
a good season, but it's not over yet. Right now, nothing is
lost."
Currently sitting in fourth place, PSG will hope to close the
gap on the top when they host Evian on Sunday.
They have lost only one of their last 40 home league
games and kept clean sheets in 14 of their last 18 at Parc
des Princes.
