Horschel: I lack consistency

Billy Horschel has said he would like to become a great player but admits
he needs to be more consistent.
The American concluded last season with back-to-back
victories in the FedEx Play-Offs at the BMW Championship
and season-ending Tour Championship.
Although his brace of wins came too late to qualify for the
US Ryder Cup team, he ended the calendar year ranked
13th in the world.
The Florida-born player is in the field for this week's
Hyundai Tournament of Champions at Kapalua's Plantation
Course in Hawaii, an event restricted to those golfers who
won official PGA Tour events during 2014.
And Horschel told a pre-tournament press conference:
"Last season was unbelievable. Before the play-offs my
season had not been going the way I would have liked.
"But I was able to find something at the Deutsche Bank in
Boston where I was second and kept that momentum
going at Denver and at the Tour Championship.
"And two wins back-to-back, I don't think I've ever done
that in my golfing career at whatever level. And obviously
to win the FedEx Cup is life-changing.
Asked about his future ambitions, Horschel added: "I'm
trying to see how great a player I can be, reach my level
and my potential as a player, and I've got to keep getting
better.
"One of the things I want to do is be a little more
consistent this year.
"I think one reason I wasn't very consistent last year is I
putted really badly. I putted awful until those last three
events and my short game can get better.
"And I think I made some strides this off-season in
working and getting better technique-wise."
Another pro among the 34 teeing-up in Friday's opening
round at Maui is Bae Sang-Moon.
The South Korean has vowed to take legal action after his
government refused to extend his visa, meaning he is
required to return home and face two years of compulsory
military service.
The 28-year-old said: "I got the green card to work in the
US. If I have a green card, I can extend five or six years
more.
"I don't know why they didn't approve an extension. I will
take legal action. I couldn't understand why they denied
it."
