Clear Browser Cache

So you have just made some changes to your website but they are not displaying immediately when you look at the page.The very first thing you should try in this case is to either ‘force’ the page to reload from the server, or clear browser cache on your computer.

Force the Page Reload

To force a reload from the server, use the following shortcuts:

• Windows: Ctrl + F5 or Ctrl + Shift + F5
• Linux: F5 or Ctrl + F5
• Mac: CMD + R

Clear Browser Cache

Sometimes forcing a reload isn’t enough because your browser has already stored an older copy of the page on a local disk. You need to clear your browser’s storage of cached files.

Clearing Cache in Firefox

1. Click Tools and select Options
2. Click the Advanced icon and click the Network tab
3. Click Clear Now under the Cache section
4. Click Ok
5. Exit and relaunch the browser

Clearing Cache in Internet Explorer

1. Click Start and select Settings, then Control Panel
2. Double-click Internet Options
3. Click the General tab
4. Click Delete under the Browsing History section
5. Click Delete Files in the Delete Browsing History dialog box
6. Click Close
7. Click OK
8. Close and relaunch your browser

Clearing Cache in Safari

1. Click the Safari menu and select “Reset Safari”
2. Ensure the checkbox “Remove All Website Data” is checked
3. Click “Reset” and reload the desired website

Clearing Cache in Firefox on Mac

1. Click the Firefox menu and select Preferences
2. Click the Advanced icon and click the Network tab
3. Click Clear Now under the Cache section
4. Click the X in the top left corner to close the Advanced window
5. Exit and re-launch the browser

Clearing Cache in Google Chrome

1. Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
2. Select Tools.
3. Select Clear browsing data.
4. In the dialog that appears, select the checkboxes for the types of information that you want to remove.
5. Use the menu at the top to select the amount of data that you want to delete. Select beginning of time to delete everything.
6. Click Clear browsing data.
