Aspirant decries marginalisation of female politicians

Abuja - The Kogi East Senatorial District aspirant,
Halima Alfa, has called on the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) leadership to save female politicians in the state
from being marginalised.
She made the call on Thursday in Abuja while speaking
with the media.
She also called on President Goodluck Jonathan to
intervene in the political situation in the state which she
said was being taken over by political godfathers.
According to her, political godfathers are in the habit of
imposing their choice candidates on the people,
claiming that they are anointed by the presidency.
"I am calling on President Jonathan to know that they
have been using his name to impose people that cannot
deliver on us," she said.
She stressed that though the PDP national leadership
was doing everything to move the party forward, it was
facing great challenges in Kogi.
Alfa, therefore, advised that there was a need for the
party`s leadership to always bring forth its first 11 for
every election.
"We must present popular and credible people to ensure
we win all elections, not godfather-imposed people."
She, however, called on the PDP national leadership to
return her as the winner of the recent House of
Representatives primaries in the state or conduct a fresh
exercise in the district.
This, she said, should be done under a more trusted
representative from the party`s national headquarters.
